This detector is very popular because it has incredible detection range! Unlike most detectors that have both antennas facing forward, the Valentine One uses multiple radar antennae (one forward antenna and one rear-facing antenna) to track multiple targets at one time.

However, the hands-down features of this detector are the arrow system that tells you where the radars are and the “bogey counter” that tells you how many different signals the V1 is receiving. Hence it helps filter threats by allowing you to see overlapping signals. Do take note that this feature is not a real false-alarm filtering feature. It simply reports everything it sees and lets you decide.
The controls are simple and relatively easy to operate. It has variable volume and mute settings, with one-touch mute. I really like the ‘one-touch mute’ feature as you only have to press once to switch from full volume to your preset muted volume. Unfortunately, this detector doesn’t come with an ‘auto-mute’ feature.
I’ve also found the Valentine One to have uneven Ka-band sensitivity. Not only does it have slight difficulties with curving roads compared to my BEL Radar Detector, whenever I pass the toll on the highway, the automatic electronic toll payment sets off the laser warning, and the unit goes nuts.
Subsequently, laser can be triggered by close proximity of the tail lights to certain American-made cars when they hit their brakes, which becomes a bit irritating when driving in town.
Besides that, the Valentine One doesn’t give you the option of showing you the actual radar frequency that it’s detecting. Coupled with its front and back sensor, it frequently detects the same frequency twice (because radar bounces off of objects) and lists it as two separate radar sources.
Other than that, the Valentine One is a great and fairly reliable radar detector. Arrows help a ton in the city and it will tell you the direction of the strongest signal as well as the other signals simultaneously.
