Do I Need a Radar Detector?
Many of my friends asked me this question: do you truly need a radar detector? I’d tell them that it is a good investment. Even if you never press the accelerator too hard nine times out of ten, there might be a situation when you really need to get there fast.
In fact, there might even be a chance that the police radar suffers technical error and gives you a ticket you never deserved.
Some people say you don’t need a radar detector if you don’t drive on the highway at all. But some would say the government is seeking every possible way to increase the number in the treasury, and handing out speed tickets is an easier way to do that than increasing tax. What do you say?

Even if you’ve decided you need a radar detector, your state government might not permit you to use it! Check out the laws on radar detectors in your state and locality. And if you drive inter-state, check the laws of the states you’d be passing through.
They are permitted in most cities and states on non-commercial vehicles only, but there are also a few places where they are wholly illegal, such as Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
